Fall is a busy season. Many of our members have been working late or on business trip. Under such circumstances it is difficult to come to a meeting, let alone to show up in a meeting on time. Tonight was no exception. There were quite a few changes in role takers and late comers, but thanks to TM OK, Toastmaster of the Evening, and active participation of members the meeting #72 proceeded smoothly and ended on time.

In the table topic session five questions were raised in total by TM EM. All members must be nervous or excited about what question would come next! TM CI who answered the question as to what city he would like to visit with a hot air balloon, was the Best Table Topic speaker. Mexico City was where he wanted to go. Dear readers, where would you like to fly out?  To another question, TM OS answered that he would donate everything if he were to become a billionaire. Would you? 

We had four prepared speeches.  The first one was “Why small dogs are popular” by TM OR. She has a small dog herself and her observation about preference on small dogs was logical. The second speech, “Japanese Forest” by TM KY, was society, environment related. We should appreciate what this island country has to offer, good quality of wood, and should preserve our forest as long as we can. The third speech was on “Mobile suit now available / HAL” by TM KC. She introduced us a new robot suit with some drawings. The invention continues even when there seems not so easy making investment on new technology. The last speech “Confucius said” by TM MT was academic one. Do you know it may be a little easier to read Confucius in English, even for native speakers of Japanese?  TM KC won the Best Speaker.

The evaluation session was rather unusual in a sense that there was only one evaluator eligible to be voted. . Evaluators were so dedicated to their evaluation and forgot about the time restriction.

There were two happy events at the end of the meeting. One was that the Club welcomed a new member who seemed like a member already from the very beginning. Congratulations, TM SK!   The other was that a second time guest declared his membership! The Club is looking forward to the day when he will become a member.
